FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do I have to know how to swim to join this group?

Ideally, we prefer our members to be able to complete one length of a standard 25-yard pool. You don't need to know all four competitive strokes, but bring a willingness to learn and we'll welcome you with open arms and supportive teammates and coaches.

Q2: Is there a trial period?

Our club requires membership in US Masters Swimming (USMS). USMS offers a one-time one-month free trial. We suggest that you swim with us for 2-3 practices (1 week) before registering, so that you really know if our program is right for you.

Q3: Where do I park?

Parking in the University of Idaho Gold lot 39 is the most convenient location, however, morning swimmers require a "Commuter Overnight/Early Morning Activity" Permit, obtainable at the Parking and Transportation Services office for $15 (or Free with purchase of an annual permit.) Apply for it online HERE (Look for the "Commuter Overnight/Early Morning" permit.) You can also buy it at their office in the Intermodal Transportation Center at Sweet Ave. & Railroad St.

For evening swimmers, Lot #39 is free after 5:00pm, however, please obey all parking signs. Some marked spaces, metered parking, and Pay-to-Park stations on Rayburn Street have different hours. See posted signs.

Bicycle parking is always free.
